Sno-Isle Libraries community libraries have closed on Easter Sunday since 2002. During that time, we continued to add Sunday hours in response to customer demand and now, 15 of our 22 libraries are open on Sundays. On April 16, 2017, Easter Sunday, libraries with normal Sunday hours will be open. This decision supports the growing Sunday use by our customers and Sno-Isle Libraries’ values of free and equal access to the library and stewardship of public resources.

Sno-Isle Libraries normally observes all federal holidays which does not include Easter. Additions are made when those holidays fall on a Sunday, such as New Year’s Day this year. In such cases, libraries are closed Sunday for the holiday and the following Monday. There will be one other exception later this year when all libraries will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 24. Normally, community libraries close at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. In 2017, that would mean a normal 1 p.m. opening for our libraries with Sunday hours and closing the doors just two hours later. Those short open hours were determined to be an inefficient use public resources.
