We want kids to share their love of books and reading through participation on the website, but there are a few steps needed to make that happen.

In compliance with COPPA (the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) children under the age of 13 must have parental permission before posting free text comments on BiblioCommons.  Follow these steps to give your child permission:

  1. Sign in to BiblioCommons with your account information.
  2. From the drop-down menu in the upper right, choose "My Settings."
  3. Select "Child Account Permissions."
  4. Click "Grant Permission."
  5. Enter your child's library card number and birth date.
  6. Click "Grant Permission."
  7. Add additional children following the same steps.

Note that children under the age of 13 will not be able to send or receive private messages in BiblioCommons.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by navigating to "My Settings > Child Account Permissions."

For more information please read the BiblioCommons US Privacy Statement.
